8 Easy & Delicious Pre & Post Workout Snacks

Hey guys! Hope your week is off to good start! One of my best friends was in town from LA for Labor Day weekend and I had such a good time hanging out with her, showing off my city, and eating (and drinking) way too much! Now that summer is over, it’s time to get back to eating healthier along with hitting the gym four times a week. What you eat before and after your workout is extremely important. I'm guilty of reaching for unhealthy snacks or drinks after a workout in the past because it was convenient or I was in a rush. You want to feed your body what it needs to see the results from your hard work.

It’s recommended that you eat simple carbs one to three hours before your workout because they are essential for energy. This will help you make it through the workout without your stomach growling and get the most benefit from it.

Protein is also important and vital for muscle growth. You should eat 30-45 minutes after finishing your workout. Protein and carbs are key to a good post-workout meal and help repair muscle tissue and restore nutrients. I try to plan ahead and keep my pantry stocked with fresh fruit and healthy snacks.  Here are some of my favorite foods to eat before and after exercising.

Pre

Apple slices with almond butter

Oatmeal with fresh fruit and sliced almonds

Slice of Wheat toast with peanut butter and sliced banana

Kind Bar

Post

1 cup of chocolate milk

1 to 2 hardboiled eggs with a slice of toast

Green smoothie

Greek Yogurt and fruit

Of course don’t forget to hydrate peeps! Both hydration and nutrition are important to having a healthy exercise routine. Shop my look and similar items down below! Thanks for stopping by I love you guys!
