Skiing 101: What To Wear. What To Bring. What To Expect.

Hey guys, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I had a blast with my girlfriends, we gathered the crew, packed our bags and hit the road for a mini getaway to Wisconsin. Skiing is one of the few things that get me excited during the winter season; I love how I feel so free, happy, calm, and relaxed coming down the hill. I can’t say I felt the same the first time I tried skiing four years ago. I fell a few times, spent an hour on the bunny hill, and prayed the entire way down the “Black Diamond” trail. If you haven’t tried skiing, JUST DO IT, it's never too late to learn to ski.

I was so afraid the first time I hit the slopes, now I enjoy going once or twice a year. If it's on your bucket list and you don't know where to start, keep scrolling down to find what I packed and how I prepared for the weekend:

Car First- Make sure to check the air in your tires, keep a first aid kit, a spare tire, jumper cables, water, and blanket in your trunk. You just never know what can happen.

Snacks- if you follow me you know I love to drink coffee, dessert, brunch, and I’m all about the snacks. I even brought a Kind Bar with me while skiing; in case the hunger kicked in I could reach into my pocket and snack on the lift. Stay hydrated!

Self-Care Items- Pack medication for cold, headaches, and nausea. Don’t forget your lip balm, band-aids, and sunscreen.

What to pack- layers, on layers peeps. This list I found on Realsimple.com is a great resource.

Sign up for lessons- if you don't have a friend who has the patience or simply doesn't want to teach you, take ski lessons. Taking a lesson from a certified ski instructor ensures you’ll start off with good skiing form. Just remember to be aware of your surroundings, take your time, and have a blast!

Skiing Basic 101:  I always remember pizza and fries, which refers to the way you position your skis. Pizza will help you downhill, fries your skis are parallel. We made a stop in Madison for brunch and I can't wait to return!

Hope this helps you out! Xo, B!
