Where to Start With Your Spring Cleaning + 6 Ways To Keep Your White Tee Looking Fresh
During this time of year in Chicago I should be bundled up under tons of layers because it’s so cold, but we have been spoiled with unseasonably warm weather the last few days. I’m not complaining, I can’t help but to get excited for spring, it means we are that much closer to Peonies Bloom Season and warmer temps! I’ve already started getting my closet ready for spring. Slowly it’s being update with new spring pieces that will give my wardrobe a fresh look, along with some of my current favorites that have been on heavy rotation.
I like to use a rolling rack because I have a small closet; this allows me to stay organized and easy to find all the items I wear most in one place. So where do I start with my spring-cleaning you ask? I always like to start with my basics because those are the pieces that get the most attention.
For example, the white tee is one of the most versatile item you have in your closet. It’s reliable and timeless; it can be tucked in a high-waisted mini skirt, shorts, half-tuck with relaxed khakis, under a slip dress, or casual with workout leggings. Not to mention it can easily transition from day to night simply by switching out your denim and a few accessories. Stay tuned for that post! Once you find a white t-shirt that fits, feels, and looks great buy a few.
I’m sure you think I’m crazy but hear me out; almost all of these shirts will end up with stains and tiny holes somewhere. There is no worse feeling than going to the store and hearing “we no longer carry it”, keep the other two tucked away in case you happen to drop coffee on your shirt and forget to wash it right away leaving a permanent stain (speaking from experience). What is the proper way to care for a white t-shirt to make sure you get your money’s worth?

Soak in a mild detergent to help removed stains. Try and address the stain as soon as you can, letting it sit there until laundry day will cause it to set in.
Wash in warm water, hot water will cause shrinkage
Wash whites ONLY with whites
Air dry if possible
Use a fabric softener, this stops wrinkle forming and that means you wont have to iron.
Take it easy on the bleach, it thins out white t-shirts
